Two absolutely amazing cars that I have never had the chance to sit behind the wheel of, and that I’m afraid I just wont be able to sit in comfortably. I’n to an especially big guy, some would even call me wirey, but I’m 6’2” which is a problem when you consider in my love of small cars.

If you live close to Lexington KY you can drive my Datsun...
Once I get it running that is.

Then this is the first time in my life I’ve wanted to live near Lexington KY, sadly I do not.

6’2” isn’t all that tall, is it? That’s 188 cm, or exactly my own length. I haven’t been in a car in which I didn’t fit, yet. I even fit in a 1970 Fiat 500. Subcompact from the 1980s? I own one, and I fit inside just fine.

Took this several years ago, they really are pretty cars.

Oh, dude, you’re fine. I’ve 6’1” and was okay in a Datsun Roadster. It was a little tight, but not bad. The Porsche on the other hand... Not tight at all.
My grandfather is 6’4” or 6’5” and drives his 914-6 whenever it’s nice out and he doesn’t need the cargo room of his P1800 or the CTS Wagon. I’ve driven it a bunch of times, and it’s great. You’d have no trouble with it at all.

That’s awesome! I love the little 914.

If you wanna come up to Canada you can sit in my Datsun Roadster! They’re actually not as small as you’d think, my dad owns a ‘67 roadster (low windshield) and he’s 6’ 3”, and its almost too small, but he manages. I’ve got a ‘68 (high windshield), which has a 2” taller windshield. Don’t dispair, you should fit perfectly in a roadster :)

I’m 6’0” and it’s mostly legs. I sat in this and the wheel was between my knees

IDK I’ve also never really been uncomfortable in the driver’s seat of a car, at least due to my height anyway. But I could not where a helmet in my 1991 Civic, but that could be fixed with a racing seat.

Yes yes they are. I love the simplicity of the design. and that back then a car could be a bit cute, while still being masculine. No frowny face here, just a classly little roadster happy to see you.

They’re so much fun. I really want to pick one up eventually. Just a regular 914 though. The 914-6s have become too pricey for my blood.
The only thing I found genuinely difficult to drive was a Lotus Elan, but it wasn’t so horrible once I actually managed to get in it and took off my shoes.

That is something I can recognize. I don’t think I could wear a helmet in my daily driver either. I do have to admit I’ve got short legs and a long torso, so I’m a bit of an outlier.

It’s a great area for driving. Horse farms everywhere.

I’m 6’8” so you're much better off than me. I'm flexible so I can fit in a surprising amount of stuff for my height but small sporty cars ain't happening.

Lexington is friggen gorgeous.
How is progress going with your Z right now? I haven’t been on in a while so I’m totally out of the loop.
Also, I’m going to buy a welder in January, (if my wallet allows me, should have school paid off) what would you recommend?

It gets worse, I’m 6’7”. I see the small car thing as cosmic balance for the blessings of height.

Hey Big Bubba!
The Z is slow. I’ve got to finish removing the door internals. Remove the fuel and brake line and then send it off for media blasting. Most of my time has been spent on the 1600 roadster. How’s your Z?
Welder, for the money it’s hard to beat the Hobart 140. It’s essentially a Miller with a different name. It will do all the metal on your Z no sweat.

Awesome, thanks for the tip! I was trying to find some emails we exchanged a loooooong time ago but couldn’t locate them haha
I really haven’t made any progress on my Z and it’s killing me. Just been sitting in the garage for the past couple months. I just can’t afford to drive it right now because of paying for tuition. Tuition should be paid off by December and that’s why I’m looking for a welder! I’v decided to start body work/rust repair first then move on to mechanical stuff which it doesn’t need much of besides some normal wear parts.
I have no idea how to do body work but I’m determined to learn!

I’m 6’3’’ and I have to put the top down to drive my Porsche.

Keep an eye on craiglist for one. That’s how I got mine. Eastwood has a lot of good how-to videos.
